Setting Intentions
March 2023 Slice of Life challenge
Back in 2018 our beautiful and sweet standard poodle passed away after giving us 13 years of much love and joy. We grieved as a family. Flapjack was there from the very beginning of both of my daughters' lives. They never knew life without a dog. We just knew we couldn't bear to live life without a dog in it.
Not right away, but a few months after Flapjack's passing we put a deposit on a future puppy, a labradoodle. We've been following in my sister's footsteps when it come to dogs. We fell in love with her standard poodle, so we got one too. Then she acquired two labradoodles and we were sold. In July of 2019 we brought our new dog, Penny, home. Penny has been amazing. She's great with the kids and she really loves everyone. She is the most cuddly dog ever. Very different than out first dog. He loved us but he did not like to cuddle. He was also useless when it came to playing fetch, but Penny has not quit playing fetch since the first throw of the tennis ball. Flapjack loved a walk but didn't need multiple a day to help keep him from making trouble like Penny does. Both dogs are very different but my heart is filled with dog love because of them both. The pandemic made me appreciate and love having Penny so much more. We had tons of walks which were therapeutic for Penny, me and the entire family. Penny kept us outside a lot with games of fetch and kept us company inside with her amazing cuddles. Life in general is dramatically improved with Penny around. Best decision we made in 2019 was to fill our home and our hearts with a new puppy. I think dogs are an amazing addition to this life we live. Do you think so too?

Absolutely, life is better w/ dogs. I loved reading about Flapjack and Penny. I’m not sure I’d find enough to write about this month if not for my dogs and their cat. Isn’t it amazing Joe different two dogs can be?

Yes! You've captured it so well here. Our Daisy kept me sane during pandemic days as well. Dogs are the best!

I agree 100%. Dogs are so much work but over this time of being home so much and isolated, having our dog and her energy has been so needed. My kids are both teens and not always into hugs from us. But I know they need a physical connection and our Cassie is able to just lay there and they can lay on her, cuddle her, and feel that reciprocated unconditional love that they need.
