Setting Intentions
March 2023 Slice of Life challenge
I happily volunteered to partake in a nutrition study. It was 10 days long and it just wrapped up. Nutrition scientists will analyze many factors about my health and as an end result I will be getting a personalized eating and exercise plan based on my specific results. This is super up my alley as I have been interested in anything health and biohacking related for quite some time.
Several versions of this study have already been published in reputable scientific journals. The first version of this study was done with identical twins only. And the results showed that even identical twins react differently after eating identical foods. Hence the conclusion that there isn't one diet and exercise plan that will help everyone and that there is a need for personalized nutrition. My results will consist of an analysis of my microbiome. Yes, I gave a poop sample for science. They will also take a look at my blood fat levels and how fast or slow fat is cleared from my blood after eating. I did have to prick my finger and drip some blood on a collection card for this one. They also monitored my blood glucose reactions to food. I loved the data I got from wearing the continuous glucose monitor for the duration. The worst part of the testing period was eating 5 muffins in one day. These muffins had certain macro ratios that were used as a control to see my reactions via the continuous glucose monitor. I had to eat 3 muffins for breakfast and 2 for lunch. They were yuck and I had a raging headache for the entire day after eating them. Then the next day I had to force myself to eat 2 more for breakfast. All for science. Let's hope the results are conclusive because I do not want to redo that EVER. I should get my results in a few weeks and I'm so excited to find out what I can change about my eating and exercise habits to tap into better health.

Wow, this is so fascinating! Between the poop sample and the blood collection I don't think I could do this, but I am really interested in what you find out.
