Setting Intentions
March 2023 Slice of Life challenge
I thought I had seen it all on my Google Meets with my students.
We could all probably relate to seeing things such as ceiling fans whirling around or students eating. We've all had a parent or two chime in or ask about their child's progress. I've had kids outside in a lawn chair or at the office with a parent. At this point nothing seems unusual. Until what I saw today. I bet you're wondering what could have possibly stunned me. Well, today I had a student come to their Google Meet live from a restaurant while being served and eating lunch. I didn't ask but it looked kind of like a Baker's Square. I wasn't the only one who noticed the strange background because the other students noticed too. Props to this student for getting to class no matter where they are. Is this indeed a unique happening or have other teachers seen this before? Please tell me I win some kind of prize.

Ha! I think you win a prize! I have had kids in the car on Meets, but not eating in a restuarant!

Haha! Well that certainly sounds like a first. I wonder what the restaurant was thinking... I wonder if other families are out there doing this too and the restaurant at this point just recognizes it as routine behavior haha

This kind of makes me jealous that I didn't think of it first! I'm going to tell admin that it's my way of engaging students . . . "Guess where Mrs. K. is teaching from"
